The story starts with a woman who had to leave her dog Cocoa at animal control, cocoa was 12 years old and she had her for many years
The woman left her dog because she was moving to an apartment that didn't allow pets. Although Cocoa was by her side for 12 years, she gave her away because she said she had no funds.
Cocoa was left in animal control and she had a gray muzzle. Other people couldn't understand why someone would leave a family member behind. Luckily enough, someone adopted Cocoa, who had a sinus infection and pink eye. The new owner immediately adopted her because she was afraid the dog would be euthanized. After a couple of weeks, Cocoa had acute pancreatitis so she required special food and antibiotics.
She also had tumors. This is why, the new owner realized, the reason why Cocoa's former owner dumped her. It was because she was a sickly dog and didn't want to pay. The new owner thought that the old owner should've at least brought Cocoa to the Human Society, which is a no-kill shelter.While Cocoa was trying to recover, she and her new family went to a mountain, saw animals, and had tons of fun! She also loved cuddling in the mornings in bed.
Unfortunately, Cocoa still had tumors and surgery was not an open alternative.
Then, Cocoa's stomach began to swell and it didn't go down. They found out through X-Rays that the masses were too big and her stomach full of liquid.
While they can give Cocoa diuretics to make her feel better, it was just a band-aid.
So her new owners decided to just bring her home and give her some last good weeks. But she died immediately soon after the diagnosis.
Yet at least Cocoa died in the arms of the one who truly loves her.
